Bridget Franek (2006)
Bridget is the greatest track & field athlete to have competed for Crestwood High School. She won six state championships in the 4x800m relay, 800m, 1600m, and 3200m, while breaking four state records during her senior year at the State Tournament, helping the girls team win the Division II State Championship. She was on the podium 9 times and went on to run for Penn State where she was NCAA Division I champion in the 3,000m steeplechase. She now runs for the Oregon Track Club Elite in Eugene, Oregon under the tutelage of Coach Mark Rowland. She ran for the United States Track & Field (USATF) team at the 2012 London Olympics in the 3,000m steeplechase! She was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2006.
Cassie Schenck (2007)
Cassie was the second greatest distance runner to have come through Crestwood High School. She won five state championships in the 4x800m relay, 1600m, and 3200m, while helping the 2006 girls team win the Division II State Championship. She was on the podium 11 times and still holds the indoor mile record with a time of 5:03! Cassie ran for the University of Akron and graduated with honors. She was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2007.
Kristi Echelberry (1991)
Kristi was the greatest female thrower to have ever come through Crestwood High School. She won four state championships in the shot put & discus, and was on the podium at Ohio Stadium 6 times. She broke the state record for both in 1991 and still holds the Crestwood and Portage Trail Conference records in the shot put & discus. Kristi went to Youngstown State on a basketball scholarship and was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 1991.
Terri Byland (1978)
Terri broke the state record in the discus with a toss of 134' 0" and held the school record until 1990. She was state champion in the discus in 1978 and was also inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame that same year.
Stephanie Moss (1997)
Stephanie was able to run a 2:14.41 in the 800m her senior year, which at the time broke our school record and allowed her to be state runner-up in that event. Stephanie graduated in 1997 and was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame that same year.
Julie Feather-Faber (2001)
Julie was able to clear 5' 3" at the State Tournament in 2001, which allowed her to place 6th on the podium. She was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2001. Julie graduated from Hiram College in 2005.
4x800m Relay Team - Bridget Franek, Cassie Schenck, Nicole Cozzone, Megan Miller (2006)
The 4x800m relay team of Bridget, Cassie, Nicole, and Megan were able to win the state title in 2006 with a winning time of 9:16.61, which at the time was an Ohio state record. Bridget was a senior, Cassie & Megan were juniors, and Nicole was a freshman when this team was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2006.
Alan Vanderink (2007)
Alan was the greatest sprinter to come through Crestwood High School. He made the podium three times as a sprinter in the 60m, 100m, 200m and still owns the school record in all three of those events with times of 7.15, 10.7, and 21.5. He was runner-up at the indoor and outdoor State Tournaments his senior year in all three events and went to Kent State on a football scholarship. He was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2007.
Matt Nichols (2007)
Matt was one of the greatest distance athletes to have come through Crestwood High School. He was able to decimate the 3200m field his senior year at the State Tournament to capture the state championship in a time of 9:13.00, which is still the school record. Matt was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2007 and graduated from Malone College.
Jim Sobwick (1970)
Jim was the first Crestwood male to win a state title down in Columbus. He was able to win the high jump state crown in 1970 with a jump 6' 4", which was the school record until 1990. Jim was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 1970 as the most accomplished high jumper in Crestwood history.
Ed Collins (2004)
Ed was the greatest male thrower to compete for Crestwood High School. He made the podium 2 times in the discus and eventually won the event his senior year in 2004 with a throw of 178' 9". He still holds the school record in the shot put & discus, and was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2004.
Brandan McGee (2010)
Brandan was one of the most accomplished distance athletes to come through Crestwood High School. He made the podium 3 times as a senior in the mile and two-mile. He was runner-up in the 3200m at the indoor State Tournament, 3rd in the mile & 6th in the two-mile at the outdoor State Tournament. He was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 2010 and attended the University of Maryland - Baltimore County (UMBC).
Scott Heaton (1995)
Scott is the most accomplished long jumper in Crestwood High School history. He secured this honor with a school-breaking and 3rd place state finish jump of 22' 7". This jump is still our school record and Scott was inducted into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 1995. He graduated from Kent State University.
Coach Don Faix (1999)
Mr. Don Faix was the Crestwood High School track & field coach from 1975 to 1999. He retired with 506 wins, 121 losses, and 3 ties during his amazing career. He was elected as "Coach of the Year" for the PCL 14 times and was elected into the Crestwood Wall of Fame in 1999.
